Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge & Willard Bay (20 images)

On the way to Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge to see if there's any kayaking to be had

A little river making it's way to the Salt Lake with the Wasatch moutains in the background

A total of more than 200 species have been observed here.

The road was underconstruction so I had to launch at this not-so-easy launch spot.

A look upstream

I decide to head downstream and see a heron and egret at a distance.

I could only get about 150ft away before they would take off

A flock of what looked like loons

Packed up and headed over to Willard Bay which is a diked fresh water area on the Salt Lake

A look out at an inlet

The temp cooled off to around 80 which made for perfect paddling weather

The wind caused some good swells to come over the front and made it a little bit of a challenge to get across to the other side. I casted down the riprad with no luck.

Finally, I caught a bass out West! A nice small mouth probably around 2lbs. I hooked up with a couple others but they threw the hook and got away.

A look at the Wasatch mountains as the sunset.

Thanks for viewing............
